PIER NORTH REDEVELOPMENT:
BUILDING FORT LAUDERDALE’S SOCIAL HARBOR

Since acquiring the waterfront property, Tavistock has been focused on reinvigorating Pier Sixty-Six so it can return to its status as Fort Lauderdale’s Social Harbor.

Phase one construction, which includes the Pier Sixty-Six Resort and the property’s first residential offerings, began in fall 2021 and the resort is expected to open in 2024.

Construction Updates

On January 27, 2023, Pier Sixty-Six commemorated a major milestone in the property’s reinvention with the topping off of the new resort building and residences. The topping off ceremony recognized the work of more than 1,000 people across more than 100 companies currently working on the project.

Utility work, including off-site improvements to the water and sewer lines, is currently active and is anticipated to continue through Summer 2023. The water line upgrades will benefit all areas east of the Intracoastal.

During this time, traffic will be re-routed periodically to make the underground water and sewer improvements. The work will impact 17th Street, the 17th Street Ramp access road on either side of and beneath the bridge, and Harbour Inlet Drive in phases, moving south to north. Water and sewer improvements will be done concurrently in order to complete the upgrades as soon as possible.

There is no anticipated disruption to water or sewer services for the surrounding neighborhoods during construction.

The contractors worked with the City to outline a noise management plan to help minimize construction impacts on the surrounding neighborhoods. Construction, including the main work site north of 17th Street and the off-site utility work, will be limited to the following hours:

Monday – Friday

  • *8 a.m. – 7 p.m. General construction activities

  • *6 a.m. – 8 p.m. Piling works activities

Saturday

  • *8 a.m. – 4 p.m. General construction activities

  • *6 a.m. – 4 p.m. Piling works activities

Sunday – No construction activities on-site

*Concrete pours will occur two or three times per week, not every day with a starting time of 5 a.m. as needed in accordance with the noise management plan.

This page will be updated with the latest details, so please make sure to check back as we continue through the construction process.

Below, you’ll fine more details about what’s changing and being added to the resort property within our initial design plans:

Resort

The hotel’s Pier Tower, which was badly damaged in Hurricane Irma, will be repaired and restored giving new life to this local icon. The Pier Top will also re-open as a lounge.

The resort’s grand entrance has been redrawn to provide a long entranceway that wraps around our storied banyan tree and will provide amazing views. There will also be a new 10-story hotel building added just north of the Tower replacing the current hotel rooms that exist in the lower lanai buildings that encircle the property.

In addition to the new hotel building, Pier Sixty-Six plans to expand and enhance the current programming to include a new signature restaurant overlooking the water, an expanded fitness center, additional event and ballroom spaces including a rooftop lawn, and two-tier pool deck with separate adult-only and family-friendly pools.

Pier Sixty-Six Residences

In addition to the hotel renovation, the new plan includes brand new residential offerings including two 11-story condominium buildings each with 31 luxury units ranging from 2,600 to 2,700 square feet.

In the base of those buildings, there are planned spaces for restaurants, shops, and offices that will create a new Marina Promenade that runs along the waterway.
